Sorry one last piece of information if I go to OneDrive and look at recents the files in that list are correct. But the issue is when I am on my computer file explorer is shows recent files that were not accessed by me recently. What is really frustrating is the computer is showing that I accessed it when I clearly did not.

The recent docs in Word etc are simply shortcuts to a recent doc and if you have re-installed these shortcuts will have been lost, and cannot be recovered. The Recents will be repopulated once you have opened some existing docs, or created new ones. The file explorer recents are something seperate from indexing

Brink, many thanks for great article but I got some issue here. I've tried using all the various methods you posted in this forum and Turn_On_Recent_Items_and_Frequent_Places reg file manage to enable me to use Quick Access again.
